The Al Falah Darussalam Tropodo Educational Institution successfully hosted its 16th Khotaman and Imtihan (Celebration of Completion and Public Examination) of the Al-Qur’an using the Darussalam Method. The event took place on Saturday, May 23rd 2026, at the Surabaya Merchant Marine Polytechnic Auditorium. The ceremony was conducted with great solemnity and profound emotion. It was attended by the foundation’s board of directors, faculty members, parents, and distinguished guests. This year, a total of 220 students successfully passed the Final Al-Qur’an Examination (UAQ) and participated in the graduation procession.
Student Demographics and Achievements
The graduating cohort comprised students across various educational levels:
• Kindergarten (TK): 11 students
• Regular Elementary School (SD Reguler): 89 students
• International Class Program Elementary School (SD ICP): 90 students
• Junior High School (SMP): 30 students
During the event, students demonstrated their proficiency in Al-Qur’an recitation before the audience and their parents. The atmosphere was deeply moving, as many parents expressed immense pride and gratitude witnessing their children’s dedication to completing their Quranic education.
Leadership Perspectives
The Chairman of the Al Falah Darussalam Foundation, H. Tri Warsono, S.E., delivered an opening address expressing his appreciation to the students, teachers, and parents who supported the educational process. “This khotaman and imtihan does not mark the end of Quranic study. Rather, it serves as the beginning of a lifelong journey to remain close to the Word of Allah and to develop a Quranic generation characterized by noble morals (akhlakul karimah),” he stated.
The event featured holy verses recitation, a communal prayer, and an award ceremony for outstanding students. The keynote spiritual discourse (mauidhah hasanah) was delivered by a prominent Indonesian scholar, Al Mukarram Ust. Dr. KH. Mudawi Ma’arif, Lc., M.H.I Al Hafidz, who holds a continuous chain of narration (sanad muttashil) in the ten recitations (qira’ah ‘asyarah) tracing back to Prophet Muhammad SAW. In his lecture, Dr. Mudawi outlined four essential pillars for raising pious children such as enrolling children in environments with exemplary teachers, parents providing a moral example, inspired by the Prophet Ibrahim AS, selecting educators who embody courtesy and integrity, protecting children from negative social influences.
Classification of Academic Distinctions
To honor exceptional student performance, the institution established a diverse framework of awards tailored to recognize various facets of student dedication. The distinctions were categorized into six strategic honors:
• Fastest Completion: Awarded to the student who demonstrated the highest velocity and efficiency in completing the tahsin (recitation improvement) stage.
• Youngest Participant: Granted to the youngest candidate within the entire cohort to successfully challenge and pass the rigorous final examination.
• Tiered Academic Excellence (TK, SD, and SMP): Distinct honors bestowed upon the single top-performing graduate within each respective institutional level—Kindergarten, Elementary School, and Junior High School.
• Special Principal’s Award: A dedicated commendation issued by the Kindergarten Principal, uniquely honoring all eleven early-childhood graduates who achieved full completion this year.
One of the parents, Ikhwanum Mustajidah, mother of Nadhira, who received the award for the youngest participant, shared her gratitude regarding her daughter’s milestone.
“Alhamdulillah, we are deeply grateful to Allah for this blessing. This achievement is inseparable from the continuous guidance of the teachers (ustadz and ustadzah) who supported our children throughout their Quranic studies. We hope this serves as a foundation toward becoming a Quranic generation with divine character (akhlak rabbani),” she concluded.
